Business Disability Forum membership renewal

Great news, the University of Birmingham has renewed its membership of the Business Disability Forum for another year, reinforcing UoB's commitment to disability inclusion where everyone is welcomed and valued.

This means that we can build on the great work already started by Hilary Tansley, Estates Accessibility Officer as part of a pilot project looking at the Built Environment, and incorporating the views of students as part of this process. Hilary has organised a number of walk-throughs of  new buildings, pre and post occupancy, with staff and students to gather feedback about accessibility and inclusivity; these have included the Teaching & Learning Building and the recently completed School of Engineering building. The next visit will be to the Exchange building, Centenary Square which is a redevelopment of the former Municipal Bank and will provide a variety of spaces for UOB staff and students, as well as host events for the general public .

Read more about the Exchange redevelopment.

We are also looking for UoB staff and students with an interest in accessibility and inclusivity to be part of a group willing to contribute to future walk-throughs and feedback sessions; if you would like to take part or have any questions contact Hilary at H.Tansley@bham.ac.uk

We would love to hear from you.
