Applications for the 2022/2023 Academic Year are now being accepted.
Parking availabilty for students at the University of Birmingham is extremely limited and therefore we ask that students travel to campus via other means. If you feel that bringing your car is absolutley your only option then you can apply for a student permit but will only be eligible if you match one or more of the criteria as set out below.
- You are a Blue Badge holder (please upload a copy of your valid blue badge with your application)
- Your term time address is over 10 miles away from the University
The address given on your application must match the term time address registered with Student Services and therefore showing on your student record. (Applications will not be processed if either the addresses don't match or the Term Time address section of your student record is left blank, this section must be completed for your application to be considered). To complete your term time address enter the my.bham portal; my.programme page; Register; at the bottom left of the page your will find Address Details, select and click the down arrow to choose Term Time address type, complete your term time address and submit. Proof of address may be requested.
- You have dependents of primary school age 11 or under who live with you at your term time address and that address is over 3 miles away from the University. Students with dependent children who live within a 3 mile radius will not be granted a permit. Please upload a copy of your childs birth certificate or a child benefit letter.
- You are are registered as a carer to disabled family members at their permanent home address
Please upload any relevant documentation that supports your application such as a carer registration document from your local authority or other relevant documentation that evidences your carer status.

Should we need to contact you for more information and there is no repsonse received within 2 weeks the application will be deleted.
Permits are issued for an academic year or part thereof and must be re-applied for on an annual basis.
If you have an ongoing medical condition that requires you to bring a vehicle to campus but you are not a blue badge holder you will need to make an appointment to see Student Services for an an assessment.

The applicant should be aware that by bringing a vehicle onto University property you agree to abide by it's
Traffic Regulations, this includes the issue of financial parking charges for unauthorised parking.
Where Can I Park?
Students who are issued with an approved permit are permitted to park in the following areas only:
The Vale, B15 3SR and Tennis Courts, B15 2RE (student residence areas)
North East Multi Storey Car Park, Floors 1-5 only (Pritchatts Road, B15 2SA) No access on the ground floor level as this is reserved for Edgbaston Hotel guests only.
Pritchatts Park Village, Pritchatts Road (B15 2QX) Please note this area is currently a construction site so available bays are limited.
Selly Oak Campus - pay & display areas only at Johnston car park and George Cadbury Hall
(Students are not permitted access to the University School , OLRC and SOVAC).
Please note that the car parks shown above are all pay and display/pay by mobile at £1 per day for student permit holders. Payment either in cash at a pay & display machine or pay on arrival via the RingGo mobile app - details below.
No cash, register with RingGo to pay via your credit/debit card via your mobile phone (see below for further details). The location code for student permit holders in the car parks shown above is 15690
A valid green student permit is required in all areas above
Charges apply Monday to Friday 8.00am - 6.00pm year round (NB: charges are still applicable during non-term time)
Students who are not granted a parking permit should not bring their vehicle to campus during core hours.
To register for Out of Hours Parking only - 4.30pm - 11:59pm Mon-Fri and all day at the weekend please send an e-mail to carparking@bham.ac.uk advising your Student ID and Vehicle Registration Number.
Students are not permitted access to the main campus prior to 4.30pm, if you do park on campus before this time our enforcement officers may issue a financial penalty ticket.
Once registered Blue Disabled Badge holders can park on the main campus free of charge please ensure your Blue Badge is clearly displayed.
