The University Annual Meeting was an inspiring and informative evening for guests from over 150 different organisations from Birmingham and beyond in the areas of research, education, business, health, culture and regional partners.

With the theme ‘Birmingham Inspires’, UAM 2019 showed how Birmingham inspires the work of the University, and, in turn, how the University of Birmingham is inspiring change locally, nationally and internationally.

The evening showcased a wide range of the University’s work, highlighting in particular the fields of Air Quality, Environmental Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Health Data –  head to Youtube to see the videos that were premiered on the night on Air Pollution and AI.

A special film promoting Quest was premiered, a campaign through which we are reinforcing the visibility and reach of the University’s work to international audiences.

Special guest, Sandie Okoro, Senior Vice-President and General Counsel for the World Bank, and alumna of the University, delivered an inspiring keynote speech praising the University and described some of her work as an advocate for global justice, equality and diversity.

The evening closed with an inspiring performance from the University Vocal Consort conducted by undergraduate student, Sidney Brass. The Consort is a new ensemble established this year, giving committed and experienced choral singers at the University an opportunity to sing challenging repertoire in a small group setting.
