This year’s extra-special 125th Christmas on Campus on Wednesday 3 December is packed with festive fun you definitely won’t want to miss and is shaping up to be one of our biggest celebrations yet!
We're talking fairground rides, visit from Santa, festive films, dazzling light shows, live performances and much more. Campus will be buzzing with Christmas spirit.

Don’t miss the chance to meet Santa at our Christmas marquee from 11.00 to 16:00. Be quick to grab yourselves a free gift from Santa. Pick up a hot drink and snack and get creative with crafts and fun stalls.
Christmas craft fair
Bramall Music Building atrium

Pick up your festive handcrafted treats at our Christmas craft fair. Perfect for those secret Santa gifts, stocking fillers or something for you. Drop by the Bramall Music Building atrium between 11:00 and 15:00.
Christmas artisan market
University Square

The popular artisan market is back with festive gifts. Discover unique crafts, delicious street food, and handmade goods from local traders.
Christmas light show and switch-on
Chancellor’s Court

As dusk settles, Chancellor's Court will transform with our first-of-its-kind immersive light show telling the story of UoB through music, colour and animated projections on the Aston Webb building. From Joseph Chamberlain’s vision to our world-changing thinkers, this captivating display celebrates our past and future in style. It promises to be an unforgettable immersive experience – you don’t want to miss it! Showing at 16:15, 17:00, and 20:00, so pick a time and come watch the magic unfold!
Then stick around for our annual Christmas light switch-on event at 17:00. Gather with your friends, wrap up warm and watch Chancellor’s Court light up for the festive season.

Grab your friends and take a free ride on the carousel. It’s a great way to get yourself out of the Library and melt away any snowy moods this festive season.

Stick around on campus and gather with your friends to join us for some joyful songs at the University Carol Service with our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and celebrate the joy of the Christmas season! Doors to the Great Hall open at 17:30 for a 18:15 start. Get there early as places are limited.

Christmas opening hours
As we head into the Christmas break, some students will be on campus and others away. If you’ll be here over the holidays, here’s what you need to know.
The University will officially close at the end of the day on Tuesday 23 December and reopen on Friday 2 January. During this time, most of our services and spaces, will be closed, and the ones that stay open might run on reduced hours. The Main Library will be closed from Tuesday 23 December to Friday 26 December so make sure you plan ahead!
