What do I do if my supervisor is not meeting with me and/or providing me with timely feedback?
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your supervision please speak to your Lead Supervisor and/or co-Supervisor(s) in the first instance if you feel able to. It may be that any problems can be resolved through an open discussion with your supervisory team. You also have a Mentor with whom you can raise any concerns or issues in confidence. Your School PGR administrator can let you know who your Mentor is if you are unsure. You may wish to explore PGR Conciliation, which aims to help PGRs and supervisors mutually repair and resolve issues in the relationship through an informal and confidential process. Alternatively, Guild Advice in the Guild of Students provides one-to-one free, impartial and confidential advice for all UoB students.
If you are still experiencing difficulties please contact your School PGR lead. The School PGR lead is the academic lead for postgraduate research matters in your School. Your School PGR administrator can provide you with your School PGR lead’s contact details if necessary. If the School PGR lead is a member of your supervisory team you will be referred to an alternative contact such as your Head of School.
