University of Birmingham and Capgemini Community Challenge 2023 - video transcript

It's been so great to get to know my fellow teammates, but also to meet the charity and go on a site visit, that's been really enjoyable.

The fact that I get to work with a variety of people all from different backgrounds, different perspectives in life, and really how we all can come together and work as a team.

Today we had to stop members of the public and speak to them, that's something I've never done before so just the opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone is what I'm enjoying most.

So one of the things that really surprised me was that charities don't always have problems with just fundraising, they also have problems connecting with a wider audience and especially reaching young people and helping them understand what the problems are with homelessness.

It surprised me how much you've trusted us with our ideas and actually had faith in us to be able to deliver.

In one week you can get so much done if you really work hard for it, and how people from so many different places can come together and work together to achieve a common goal and work together for this charity. I think it's wonderful.

I've learned to trust ourselves and that we're actually more capable than we realise, there's definitely new communication methods that we hadn't even thought of, time management skills that our mentors have really helped with.

The thing I've learned the most is how to be more confident in myself. Just express your personality, be yourself.

So working with the client has been a really positive experience so far, they've been really receptive and open to all of our ideas and pretty much given us complete creative freedom so it's been great as a team to work together and just be as creative as we want.

Working with our charity has been amazing, they've been wonderful at giving us the freedom to help them in whatever way we can, and they send us all the information we want from them, so they've been very nice and we've been really enjoying working with them.

To summarise my journey so far I would say empowering.

Creative.

Authentic.

Unique.

Eye-opening.

Extraordinary.

Even though in this challenge we are putting our best foot forward and trying our best to help our clients, we were still all staying true to ourselves and given our own different ideas and just that opportunity and still being able to help our client was a very authentic and transparent experience.

It really encompasses everything we've done this week from helping clients to delivering what they need to use in the future.
