This session will be facilitated by an Academic English teaching fellow at the BIA. It is intended to be informal and interactive, providing a safe space for an open discussion of the challenges of teaching and supporting students whose first language and/or cultural background is different from our own.
We will explore some of the common challenges experienced in an academic setting when working with students who have English as an additional or second language. We will also try to consider the potential reasons leading to difficulties and reflect on strategies to overcome them.
As a starting point, the session will take the experiences of attendees who are kindly asked to share their experiences prior to the session in a short online survey: https://forms.office.com/e/cPeP1dudFx The survey is anonymous and will close at 1pm Tuesday February 13th. Please use the register links to book onto the session.
