Countdown to Christmas
You are warmly invited to join the many free events taking place on campus in the Countdown to Christmas.
There's plenty going on at the University for all staff to enjoy. Highlights include:
It’s Christmas at the Barber’s shop!
The Barber’s almost as renowned for its Christmas shop offer as for its internationally significant art collection, and always stocks a fantastic range of greetings cards, wrapping paper and decorations.
This year’s festive range is now available – and at crazy sale prices for multi-packs of cards, rolls of paper, baubles and other items.
Also with prices slashed are a range of wonderful catalogues from exhibitions over the last few 15 years or so, covering shows such as ‘The Parrot in Art’, 'In Front of Nature: Thomas Fearnley’s Landscapes’ and ‘Truly Bright and Memorable: Jan de Beer’s Renaissance Altarpieces’ to name but a few.
Sale prices last until Christmas.

Festive Swap Shops for staff only
Main Library, midday
Do you have a Christmas jumper, tie, headband, hat or t-shirt that you can swap or donate this year? For a more sustainable campus Christmas jumper day, we’ll be accepting any donations but also holding two swap shops for staff for all your festive wear. Either come along to a swap or leave donations ahead of time at the reception desk of Main Library.

Christian Union's Carol Service
Great Hall, Aston Webb Building, 5pm to 7:30pm
Kick off your Christmas in the best way by joining the Christian Union for a free carol concert. Enjoy jazz carols, a brilliant choir, free mince pies, stunning solo performances along with a reflective Christmas message. All are welcome!

Christmas Marquee with Santa
By the Law Building, 11am to 5pm
Explore a variety of Christmassy stalls, including from the University Graduate School (UGS), the Barber Institute and the Birmingham International Academy (BIA). Enjoy some crafts, take a selfie in our photobooth and even visit our very own Santa's Grotto before it closes at 4.30pm.
Christmas Light Switch-On Event
Bramall Music Building, 5pm
Chancellor's Court will come alight as our annual Christmas Light Switch-On event returns for 2023. Join in on the festive fun as we make our campus shine with magical spirit this Christmas.

It’s time to dig your festive fun wear out of the wardrobe for Christmas Jumper Day 2023, in support of Save the Children. You can check with your manager in advance to find out if your department is taking part and help to raise funds for kids in the UK and around the world.

University’s Annual Carol Concert

Come and join us at the annual University Carol Service concert. Led by the University's Multi-Faith Chaplaincy, this event is sure to get you in the festive spirit with plenty of traditional Christmas songs, hymns, and music. No need to book, just show up!
