OLRC temporarily closed over summer 2025

The Orchard Learning Resources Centre (OLRC) will be temporarily closed from Friday 13 June 2025 until 21 September as we carry out significant stock moves. Collections relating to Drama courses will be moved to the Main Library on the Edgbaston campus to facilitate greater access to those collections for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Preparation for the stock moves is already underway and the Humanities and Religion and Society halls are currently unavailable while we prepare the stock for the move. If you are visiting the OLRC and require a book from those halls, please ask at the front desk and a member of staff will fetch it for you.

From 13 June until 21 September, a book fetching and scanning service will be in place for students and staff who need access to books located at the OLRC.

Requesting a book

Visitors and University of Birmingham staff and students can request books.

  • Search for the item on FindIt@Bham.
  • Select "Get It" from the right hand side of the record.
  • Complete the form.

Requesting a scan

Only University of Birmingham staff and students may request scans.

  • Login to FindIt@Bham.
  • Search for the item on FindIt@Bham.
  • Select "Scan request: article or chapter".
  • Complete the form.

  • We aim to fulfil requests within two working days. Books can be collected from the Main Library and scans will be sent directly via email.
  • Reference materials and journals can be requested and will be available for you to consult in the Allport Room at the Main Library.
