Springer Nature

Springer Nature has an open access (OA) publishing agreement with the University of Birmingham. It allows University of Birmingham affiliated corresponding authors (subject to eligibility criteria listed below) to publish open access at no additional cost in Springer, Nature Research and Palgrave hybrid titles that offer an open access publishing option.

Please note that if you plan to submit your work to a Springer Nature or BMC journal not listed in our Search Tool, you should refer to the Prepaid Open Access agreement page, as the details here do not apply.

Eligibility criteria

  • The agreement is only available for the following article types:
    • original papers (when publishing in a Nature journal this is the only eligible article type)
    • review papers
    • brief communications
    • continuing education
  • The corresponding author must be affiliated to the University of Birmingham, and ensure their @bham.ac.uk email address is used on submission to the journal and throughout the publication process.
  • Any additional page, colour or other charges will not be covered through this agreement or the open access budget.
