Explore fascinating research at the LES Make a Difference Days

Ever wondered what kind of research is happening across UoB?

The College of Life and Environmental Sciences (LES) is opening up its Make a Difference Days to all UoB students this June, giving you the chance to hear directly from academics about the fascinating research taking place across the College.

Over the two days, you can attend talks on a huge range of topics, from climate change and crop gene therapy to eyewitness identification, student wellbeing and the science behind “hangxiety”.

Some of the sessions include:

  • Into Thin Air: The science of winning in cycling and why it’s all about mastering air
  • Would You Pick the Suspect? The science of eyewitness identification
  • Bacteria: how they rule the world
  • The Power of Sleep: Protecting brain health and preventing injury
  • Is Stress Always Bad? How the way we think about stress matters
  • “Hangxiety”: Why does alcohol make us feel hungover and anxious?
