Need your next MenB vaccine? Drop in on campus

Were you one of the 1,000 students who got vaccinated at our MenB drop-in clinic during Welcome?

If you are, your second dose is due soon.

If not, don't worry. It's not too late to get protected.

Why get the MenB vaccine?

MenB (meningococcal B) is a serious bacterial infection that can cause meningitis and septicaemia. Although cases are rare, the illness can become serious very quickly. Students are at increased risk because the bacteria can spread through close contact and shared living spaces.

Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself.

Remember you’ll need two doses

The MenB vaccine requires two doses, with the second dose given at least 28 days after the first.

So, if you had your first vaccination during Welcome, don't forget to get your second to ensure you're fully protected. For example, if you received your first dose on 19 September, you'll be due your second dose from 17 October.

It's also worth noting that you won't have full protection until two weeks after your second vaccine, so getting that second dose is an important step.

Am I eligible for a free vaccine?

As part of a government vaccination programme, students starting university this autumn may be eligible for a free MenB vaccine.

Before attending a pharmacy, check whether you're eligible. If you're not, you can still choose to pay for the vaccine.

How to get vaccinated

Getting your MenB vaccine couldn't be easier.

Selly Pharmacy has recently opened a branch in the University Centre, giving you a convenient on-campus option for vaccination.

Simply drop-in with evidence that you're a new student if you're claiming the free vaccine. This could be your student ID card or your university offer letter.

To make stopping by even more convenient, Selly Pharmacy is offering extended opening hours until 18:00 or 19:00, depending on demand.

If you'd prefer, you can also book with another pharmacy that's convenient for you.

Don't miss out on this important protection. Find out whether you're eligible and how to get vaccinated on our MenB vaccination webpage.
