Switch to eduroam for faster, more reliable WiFi on campus

If you're still using GuestWiFi, it's time to switch to eduroam.

Eduroam is the University's secure WiFi network for students and staff. It provides fast, reliable internet access across campus and is the network you'll use throughout your time at the University.

Why use eduroam?

Once you're connected, you'll benefit from:

  • Fast and reliable WiFi across campus
  • Secure access using your University account
  • Automatic connection whenever you're on campus
  • No need to sign in every time you connect

Connecting with an iPhone or iPad?

Getting connected is easy.

  • Select eduroam from your available WiFi networks.
  • Sign in using your full student email address and University password.
  • Accept any security prompts.

That's it. Your device should automatically reconnect whenever you're on campus.

Connecting with an Android device?

To connect to eduroam, select the network and use the following settings:

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • CA Certificate: Use system certificates or Do not validate (or Trust on first use on newer Android devices)
  • Domain: bham.ac.uk
  • Identity: Your full student email address
  • Anonymous identity: Leave blank
  • Password: Your University password

Once you've entered these details, select Connect.
