Neurodiversity Celebration Week is here

What is Neurodiversity Celebration Week?

Celebrated world-wide from the 18-24 March, the initiative aims to challenge stereotypes and assumptions about neurological differences.

The concept of neurodiversity is the acceptance that all humans are different, with unique minds, needs and abilities. For this reason, the week celebrates the successes and strengths of being neurodiverse, while still acknowledging the unique challenges that neurodiverse people face. Find out more about Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

Many people in the neurodivergent community use neurodiversity as an umbrella term – this term is used to describe alternative ways of thinking, learning, interacting, and perceiving the world. Some of these include:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dyscalculia
  • Tourette’s Syndrome

How we’re celebrating at UoB

As a diverse UoB community, we welcome everyone to come together and create an inclusive and equitable space where we can not only celebrate differences but empower every individual.

We’re also celebrating neurodiversity at UoB by increasing our acceptance of those around us, and becoming more educated on both the strengths, and the struggles, of neurodivergent people.
