Your Community Safety Team
We’re delighted to welcome you back to campus and share what we’ve been working on to keep you safe.
The Community Safety Team can be found at the Community Safety Hub, open Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. Visit the team to pick up free D-locks, personal safety and property alarms.
Last year the team were a reassuring presence on campus and offered advice, support and a freebie here and there to keep you safe:
- More than 5,000 personal safety alarms, 3,000 anti-theft bells, and 1,000 window and door alarms were given out.
- The Safety Team and Campus Police spent more than 500 hours helping students with their safety concerns and carried out 3,000 hours of high visibility patrols.
- Working with your Guild Community Ambassadors over 2,000 houses were contacted and 1,000 welcome visits were made in the Selly Oak community. This included welcoming students to the community, giving them advice on managing waste, safety, being a good neighbour, and noting down any issues to help with.
Check out our staying safe pages to find out more or visit the Guild of Students' website for more safety advice and information on Community Pantry parcels, self-defence, and Community breakfast initiatives.
Don't forget to dowload our SafeZone app which connects you to our security team. It's also monitored 24/7 so if you find yourself studying late on campus, you'll be able to reach someone.
