Have you grabbed your free four-week bus pass yet?

Starting university is an exciting new chapter, and we want your journey to be as smooth as possible. We understand that for some of our students, transport can be quite an expense in a monthly budget, so whether you are a commuting student, or you just want to explore more of Birmingham, we’ve got your back.

That’s why we are offering a free four-week bus passes for new undergraduate and postgraduate students, covering the nBus network area.

There'll be two opportunities to register, from 18 August - 31 August and 8 September - 22 September so the first round of applications is available now!

You can apply for the bus pass here.

You will also be able to register at the Welcome Fair in the Great Hall at the Sustainable travel stall over Arrivals Weekend.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How to sign up?

Simply use your @student.bham.ac.uk email when filling up the application. To receive your free travel pass, don’t select the frequent use options (every day or more than twice a week).

Once you have applied, you will receive an email with a claim code and further instructions on how to claim your ticket.

Remember to order your ticket to your term time address so you can make the most of it when it arrives.

When will you receive your ticket?

Once you’ve ordered it, expect to wait a few days for your Swift card to arrive.

What happens next?

Once you receive your Swift card, use your first 4-week ticket from your selected start date. If you would like to continue to use the bus, we recommend that you use the University discounted bus scheme.

I already have a bus pass, but I want to use this ticket – what should I do?

You can choose your ticket’s start date to be up to about a month in future. This means you can time it, so your free ticket starts after your current pass has expired.
