UoB Lecturer dives into World Aquatic Championships in Singapore

We’re so excited to share that our very own Dr Katie Hesketh has been selected to represent Great Britain in senior women’s water polo at the prestigious Singapore 2025 international tournament!

Dr Katie

Dr Hesketh is an Assistant Professor in Exercise Prescription at the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences and the Programme Lead for the new MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology launching in September 2025. Not only is she a brilliant academic and Clinical Exercise Physiologist, she’s also an elite athlete with a strong commitment to excellence—both in the lab and in the pool.

Juggling her research, teaching and leadership with high-level sport, Dr Hesketh’s selection for the national squad is an example of her exceptional talent, dedication and passion for both science and sport.

Dr Katie Hesketh:

“To be selected for this squad is such an honour. Combining my passions for sport science and elite competition truly feels like culmination of years of dedication - in the pool, in the clinic and in the lab”.

We couldn’t be prouder! Dr Hesketh will take to the international stage, proudly wearing the GB cap and inspiring us all with her drive.

From all of us — a huge congratulations and the very best of luck in Singapore! Go Katie!
