Pivotal Recovery Course

Supporting students who are experiencing Problematic Porn Use (PPU) – a pilot study in collaboration with Pivotal Recovery and University of Birmingham

pivotal

Problematic Porn Use (PPU) continues to rise with some estimates showing 88% of 18-28 year olds watch porn, with 63% of those having started watching before they were 16 years old. Problematic Porn use has been disclosed in 4-6% of total registrations each year for the University’s Mental Health Service but the numbers of students struggling with this issue across the University will be much higher. It is easy to see how students can get trapped in a cycle of addictive behaviour when it comes to porn however access to specialist support is often very difficult and involves a long wait.

To help support students who are struggling with PPU, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Service have partnered with Pivotal Recovery in running a pilot study to provide students with free access to a professionally guided online programme, delivered by renowned sex and relationship psychotherapist and author Dr. Paula Hall and designed specifically with students in mind.

Unsure if your porn use IS problematic?  Then you might like to take the Am I am addict? | Pivotal Recovery test on the Pivotal website.
